Trip Styler is a daily travel lifestyle website run by Vancouver-based writer and chief trip stylist {aka editor-in-chief} Trish Friesen {left}, and an intrepid team of passionate globetrotters {below}, with varying lifestyles and perspectives.

“Think of Trip Styler as your everyday beach-read, even when you’re sitting at your desk {sans sunglasses} under florescent lighting!” -Trish

We connect aspiring jetsetters to the best online travel resources for their trip style—quite simply, the style in which a person chooses to travel on a given trip. From the approachable to the aspirational, we frame each destination, hotel and feature with a specific trip style: luxury, budget, camping & glamping, urban, tropical, etc… and operate with an editorial calendar of weekly and monthly features highlighting destinations, hotels, travel-related trends, apps, websites, fashion, health and beauty.

What Is A Trip Style?
Variety is the spice of life. A trip style is how a person chooses to travel on a given trip, and most travelers have a range. Every trip style is heavily influenced by a number of key factors including: budget, time available, area of interest, travel companions, activity level and desired experience. There are probably as many trips styles as there are travelers, however, we’ve distilled them down to 16 distinct categories. Whether you choose a trip style like adventure, spa, beach, urban, budget conscious, luxury, or camping & glamping, you’ll will find many time- and money-saving shortcuts, as well as itinerary suggestions on what to see, do and eat within each category to make the absolute most of your trip.

Editor-In-Chief
Trish eats, sleeps and breathes travel, packing her bag every two weeks for a wild adventure or sun-drenched hotspot. The Internet has revolutionized travel and Trish was thrilled to utilize her marketing background to turn her passion into her business when Tripstyler.com launched in 2009. Having researched and booked hundreds of trips online over the past decade, Trish is an enthusiastic educator and must-have resource for the “do’s, don’ts and how-to’s” of online travel booking, and is often called-upon by local and international publications for interviewsguest editor features and her writing.

A strong advocate of getting out and discovering the world on every level, she has enjoyed swimming with turtles and sharks on the Great Barrier Reef, trekking to Machu Picchu, hiking the Great Wall of China, going on safari in Kenya, camping in Tofino, surfing the Oregon Coast, hiking Black Tusk, beaching it in Maui, flow-riding on the 14th floor of a cruise ship, climbing the Eiffel Tower, eating pear and asiago ravioli in the Cinque Terre, segwaying the streets of downtown LA, doing development work in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and taking in a little Cirque de Soleil in Vegas.

Trish unpacks her suitcase in Vancouver, BC, where she lives with her husband/travel partner Nathan, and her dog Nacho {@mrnachoking}, whom she’d take around the world if she could fit him under her seat. Reach her by email –> bonjour {at} tripstyler {dot} com

Contributors
Heather - Fashion Friday {last Friday of every month}
Heather earned her “pop culture queen” nickname in high school and not much has changed since, except she no longer wears sweatshirts around her waist in the name of fashion and she listens to O-Town much less frequently. She appreciates the finer things, but loves a good bargain even more. She thinks trends are fun and all, but if they don’t suit your body, in the words of Liz Lemon, dealbreaker! Heather lives by the beach in Vancouver, where she enjoys walks and bike rides on the seawall, good coffee, live music, Friday Night Lights and British Vogue. Her travel wish list spans from Japan to the American South and anywhere in between with wineries and good shopping, but she mostly escapes to closer destinations from Southern California to BC’s coast. She works in video production and docu-reality television and styles on the side. You can follow her on twitter @heatherlovesit and on her lifestyle blog heatherlovesit.com.

Leah - Healthy On The Road {first Thursday of every month}
When not lending her unique blend of Occupational Therapy (OT) and Certified Personal Training skills to her clients, you can find Leah running her dog Zuzu, hanging out with her son Sam and sipping americano mistos with her husband Jamie in North Vancouver. Driven by her strong belief that people live out their lives well when they feel well, Leah founded OTfit Consulting in 2009. Leah is passionate about helping others find creative ways to achieve physical, mental and spiritual health, and she recognizes that even small improvements in overall health and fitness can have a significant impact on daily functioning and overall well-being. She’s excited to show Trip Styler readers that it’s possible, and fun, to stay healthy on the road!

Nicole – Jetset Jingles {second Monday of every month}
Known as the resident DJ amongst her friends, Nicole sources and introduces tunes from all genres and creates playlists for life’s milestones and the everyday. There’s a concert coming to town? Chances are she’s already got tickets. Her musical obsession started with her first record—Michael Jackson’s Thriller. She then moved on to making mix tapes of Milli Vanilli and NKOTB. Nicole’s eclectic taste in music has broadened over the years to include everything from dance to pop, indie rock to hip hop, and even country. She’s joining the gang at Trip Styler to help create travel-themed playlists for your globetrotting adventures. As someone used to filling silence with sound, Nicole believes there’s music for every mood and occasion and has the music library to prove it. When not searching high and low for new music, she spends her days working in the film industry, skiing in the winter, golfing in the summer, traveling whenever she can, and listening to good music all year long.

Keryn – KinderHop {third Monday of every month}
After years in book publishing, Keryn left her fast-paced job for a world of toy trains on jet planes with son Dek and husband Mike. Not one to let having a kid stop her from vacationing in Beijing, weekends away, or boarding a five-hour flight to her hometown, Keryn has kept her travel bug alive even with a toddler {and soon to be newborn} in tow. A firm believer in taking kids anywhere and nurturing a new generation of kinder travelers, she realized the hardest step is getting out the front door. After that all that’s needed are the tools and patience to realize your travel dreams, no matter what your budget! When not writing for Trip Styler, you can find Keryn living in Seattle, blogging at Walkingon Travels and tweeting from @walkingontravel.

Lauren – Travel Beauty {third Wednesday of every month}
From using nail polish to give her Barbies a glam red lip to creating trendsetting bowl cuts on her porcelain dolls, Lauren’s beauty obsession began early. Her passion for beauty products only grew and soon she was creating her own skincare concoctions and melting lipstick into shampoo caps and trying to sell them at school. After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Philosophy and English, Lauren realized that her talents were better spent advising on makeup and hair care than dissecting Plato’s Republic. She embarked on a career in beauty public relations, working with top brands like Bliss Spa, L’Oreal, DuWop Cosmetics and Alterna Professional Haircare, and developing close relationships with celebrity makeup artists and stylists, top dermatologists and beauty editors. Having just moved from Los Angeles, Lauren lives with her husband Aron in Vancouver and spends her free time testing new beauty products and searching for the perfect pink lip gloss.
