Last week I posted about how to find travel deals via twitter. Today's post explores the dos and don'ts of travel tweeting. You'd think most of this would be common sense, but in the wake of frustration---especially the type encountered in airports---we can all let our emotions get the best of us and use twitter's public forum to let out our anger.
Do
- treat twitter like a conversation...in an airport. know that people are 'listening.'
- understand that anyone, at anytime can read your tweets
- think twice before tweeting--anything could be remotely misconstrued as a safety or security threat
- tweet when a travel experience is good
- use airport down-time to get caught up the travel deals, important flight info, etc...via twitter
Don't
- tweet when you are in the security line-up (this especially includes twit pic'ing)
- tweet when you're mad, you might say something you regret
- be a hater, only tweet something bad if there's no other option, and that's rarely the case
- talk about firearms, bombs, etc...
- diss security or immigration...duh...they can read your twitter feed too
A Sobering Except from Kayak's Blog "A British traveler jokingly tweeted that he was going to blow an airport “sky high” after a canceled flight marred his travel plans. Seems British authorities weren’t in on the joke. We hear the traveler was arrested under the country’s Terrorism Act a week after the posting went live, questioned for hours and subsequently banned for life from the small regional airport that was the butt of his unfortunate attempt at Twitter humor."
